Did you know? Half Way Tree was originally known as Half-Way-Tree Pen.

It was named after a cotton tree which was located at the junction of four roads and up to 1866 was halfway between two places: Greenwich in St. Andrew Hill, where the English soldiers had their camp and the fort near Spanish Town.

The soldiers always rested at this spot (halfway their journey) before proceeding to the fort.
